Charlene Kalubi
Family Resilience Program Manager
I discovered my passion for mental health in high school while volunteering with a nonprofit dedicated to children’s mental health. After earning a degree in Psychology from King’s University in Edmonton, I pursued hands-on work supporting children and families as a Behavioural Therapist. I gained vast knowledge and experience working at organizations such as REACH in Vancouver, and Virtual Behaviour Services Inc. (VBS) in Ottawa. In this role, I delivered ABA intervention strategies and parent coaching to help caregivers and children meet developmental goals. I later served as a Children’s Crisis Counsellor at Immigrant Women’s Services Ottawa, providing one-on-one therapeutic counselling, crisis support, group facilitation, and connections to local resources for women and children fleeing gender-based violence.
I practice from a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered lens. I focus on practical, evidence-based approaches that help families recover from and grow beyond traumatic experiences. My work centers on strengthening family systems, improving parent and child relationships, and supporting long-term resilience through compassionate and individualized support.
As a mother of two, I bring lived experience and deep empathy to my practice. I understand the complexities of parenthood and the small, everyday challenges that shape family life. My goal is to help families become resilient and to support them in building thriving, stable environments where children and caregivers can flourish.
