Mariama Aregbesola

Family Resilience Program Manager


After living in various parts of Africa, Western Europe, Western and Eastern Canada, Mariama and her family now call Ottawa home. Mariama is a thought leader, experienced administrator, community advocate, and counsellor, bringing over twenty years of experience to the social services sector. She is an ardent supporter of families within her community, subscribing deeply to the adage: it takes a village to raise a child. Mariama holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and graduated with a Bachelor of Social Work degree with distinction from Dalhousie University School of Social Work. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Mariama greatly enjoys continuing her learning through a variety of formal and informal opportunities.

 

Mariama is an advocate dedicated to ensuring that people from all walks of life feel welcome and she is passionate about creating safe spaces for the families she supports and within her community. Mariama uses her facilitation and counselling skills to empower families and team members. She is able to pivot quickly through rapidly changing circumstances to ensure effective service is provided to clients. Mariama’s approach is client-centered, evidence informed and impact driven.

 

She is a huge proponent of mental health support and self-care, has great respect for empowerment, narrative, strength-based and client-centered approaches to practice. She honours her clients by ensuring they are supported, feel confident and free to make decisions and take steps forward in their life plans and parenting journeys.

 

Mariama joined the PRC Team in 2018.
