Supporting Neighbourhood Caregivers - Arabic Sessions

Supporting Neighborhood Caregivers (SNC) is a training program for parents and caregivers who are unable to access other parent education courses offered in the community. It is a certificate course and is great for English as a second language families. SNC is designed to respond to meet the needs of these individuals.

Topics are: home childcare business and community resources, job stress, children stress and self esteem, planning your day for play, home safety and health, guiding children’s behavior, child development and importance of play.  Snacks and childcare are available.

Financial Literacy Workshop - Arabic Session

One hour of the workshop will provide information about budgeting and consumerism.  The second hour will cover the topic of credit cards in Canada.  You will learn the pros and cons of credit, how to build good credit, how to protect yourself from fraud, do’s and don’ts of credit cards.  Snacks and childcare are available.

Fueling for Full Day Learning / L'alimentation pour l'apprentissage

Description

Children learn better when they eat foods and drink fluids that are healthy and enjoyable throughout the school day. Many children enjoy foods more when they are involved with preparing it.

Parents will learn how to plan healthy school lunches and snacks based on Canada’s Food Guide. As well, parents will learn the benefits of having the children help prepare their own lunches and snacks .

You and your child, along with a Community Dietitian and Parent Support Worker, will make several nutritious snacks together plus one lunch.  Parents will learn how to plan healthy school lunches and snacks based on Canada’s Food Guide.  As well, they will learn the benefits of having the children help prepare their own lunches and snacks. ** Please advice of any food allergies when registering as food prepared will be shared at the end of the workshop. Children learn self discipline when they have to experience the consequences of their actions.  But what consequences should be imposed and when? Are you pregnant? Do you have questions about breastfeeding? Come out to this important learning session and discover where you can get support in the Ottawa area. Make sure you know how to get off to a smooth start, learn important skills and have your questions answered by a Lactation Consultant. Exclusive breastfeeding is important for your child's optimal health and development. Make sure you are ready BEFORE your baby arrives. Each new mother will receive a valuable information package and priceless confidence all FREE of charge. It is important that partners or a support person attend as well.
