Where: Petrie Island, Ottawa, ON

The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup will be showing Canadian pride in Ottawa on Saturday, June 24 to host a celebratory public cleanup on Petrie Island from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To mark Canada 150’s anniversary, the Shoreline Cleanup has set an ambitious goal for 2017, hoping to have 150,000 participants join a shoreline cleanup to help keep our country’s beautiful shorelines pristine. Over 100 volunteers including cadets from the Navy League of Canada are expected to gather along the Ottawa River shoreline for the cleanup. Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan 150 will also be making a stop at the event, bringing the opportunity to interact with Pacific coastal critters such as sea stars, sea urchins, and sea cucumbers. Don’t miss your chance to get up close and personal with some amazing sea creatures, and lend a helping hand to your community.
