Eastern Region Community Profiles
The Eastern Ontario DAC team has recently updated their Community Profiles. These are available for the Ottawa Region; the Counties of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke; Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry & Cornwall; and Prescott and Russell.
The 2014 Community Profiles contain a wide variety of evidence-based information (e.g., demographic, economic, housing, health, language, early development), making them relevant to many people, and a great tool for those interested in working together across sectors with the common interest of supporting the best future for our children.
Using the ecological model as a framework, the 2014 Community Profiles provide an easy-to-read storyboard of indicators related to the status and living conditions of children and their families. Each local profile includes a legend and description of compiled indicators, a road map, local and regional 2011 Census data, Early Development Instrument trends, as well as local data provided by the City or County and some of its services.
Used alongside professional knowledge and personal experience, these Profiles are intended to provide parents, professionals, and the general public with a snapshot of factors that contribute to early childhood developmental outcomes. They also provide Communities and Best Start Networks with the opportunity to identify local strengths, risks, and vulnerabilities at-a-glance, and compare these across the Eastern Region.
